Basic Training
 Basic training at the VGM Academy comprises approximately 70 training hours. It is structured into a theoretical and practical part, whereby the theory comprises approximately 20 hours. The practical part prepares the candidates for later performing of duties. Under the vigilant eyes of experienced employees possible situations are rehearsed, but real operational situations that had already happened are especially simulated.
Our candidates are trained in the fields of legal matters, operational tactics, personal protection/bodyguard services, radio communications, reporting and logging, conflict resolution, first aid and self-defence, among others.
After successful conclusion of the basic training our employees can take charges of operations at events and regulate traffic, since traffic control assessment is also included.
Training as traffic controller
 In this training section our employees receive training in the StVO (road traffic regulations) and KfG (motor vehicle act).
After successful examination and swearing-in by the responsible provincial/regional authorities, our employees may regulate traffic on public roads, monitor short-term parking zones and give instructions to motorists. This examination also lays the foundation for deployment in the radar department.
Training as dog handler
The training of dog handlers and police dogs are performed by the divisional leader.

Detective training
Detective training at the VGM Academy is performed by very experienced career detectives, former CID officers and jurists. Apart from personal characteristics, a selection procedure is followed to determine access to the course.

The prospective candidates acquire practical knowledge through various exercises during the course and in connection with real operational situations in the company of our detectives.
Persons protection training
Only after a minimum of two years of being with VGM and having passed an entrance exam conducted by a commission, the candidate is accepted for basic training. The purpose of this entrance exam is to determine the individual candidate’s level of knowledge. Special value is placed on the areas of physical stamina, endurance and technical knowledge.
The training in the area of personal protection/bodyguard services is subdivided into basic training and the associated “Team leader in personal protection/bodyguard services” course.

Internal professional courses are regularly run by VGM, which serve the further training of VGM employees. Participation in the courses offered is based on the current promotions guidelines and directives.
Training as fire prevention supervisor/officer
In this course the basic technical knowledge for the duties of a fire prevention supervisor or fire prevention officer is conveyed. After conclusion of the training and final examination by a commission the participant is capable of taking over the responsibilities of the function of a fire prevention supervisor or officer.
